ROKAE Robotics has entered into a cooperation agreement with the China Welding Association (CWA) to jointly develop and deliver professional training in intelligent welding technology. Wu Jiupeng, Deputy Secretary-General of the CWA, visited ROKAE's facilities for the signing, with both parties identifying the skills gap between welding theory and hands-on robot operation as the core problem the program is designed to address.
Bridging the Theory-to-Practice Gap
As welding automation advances, the shortage of engineers who can operate robotic welding systems — and increasingly, AI-augmented ones — has become a bottleneck for large-scale industrial adoption. The joint training program targets welding engineers at heavy machinery manufacturers, technical engineers at welding equipment suppliers, and delivery engineers at system integrators, offering a structured path from foundational knowledge to certified competency.
The program is built around three design principles:
Practice-first structure
70% of training time is dedicated to hands-on operation, with each participant required to independently complete all assigned tasks. More than ten collaborative welding stations are available on-site to ensure sufficient practice time per student. ROKAE senior application engineers provide full-session guidance covering equipment operation, fault diagnosis, and process optimization.
Modular, progressive course design
The curriculum starts from foundational robot mechanics, installation, and safety through to advanced welding process packages, complex applications, and system integration skills including analog communication configuration, accommodating participants at different experience levels within the same cohort.
End-to-end curriculum with dual certification
Training follows a closed-loop model of theory instruction, supervised hands-on practice, and formal assessment. Participants who pass both theoretical and practical evaluations will receive a joint certification issued by ROKAE Robotics and the CWA. Course content covers robot system architecture, welding software programming, and AI welding principles, through to advanced functions including arc seam tracking, laser tracking, laser positioning, multi-layer multi-pass welding, and external axis coordination.
The partnership builds on ROKAE Academy's existing "Collaborative Welding Launchpad" program, which has trained several hundred engineers since its launch and established a strong industry reputation for practical, deployment-ready instruction.
